Daniel Atyim artist statement
Exploring the function and meaning of surfaces, I find transition implicit in facades. I am interested in the ways that surfaces describe and dim underlying structures. My work is constructed from experience and imagination, which mingle to formulate a segment of shapes caught in development. Perception changes constantly in the struggle for stability. Shapes that lack a resemblance to anything in particular add something faulty to the images. These combinations can function as visual or conceptual interference. Often built around personal surprise encounters, at times my work can be sad and funny.
